The 2018 UANA Pan American Masters Championships were held in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen YMCA Aquatic Center. There were over 1,500 swimmers from North, South, and Central America for this week long event. This was the premier masters championship meet of the summer (USMS did not hold a Summer National Championship meet) and was contested in Long Course Meters (50m). Swimmers in attendance from Niagara LMSC:

  • Binghamton University Masters (BUMS) had three: Randy Mayall (men 50-54), Melissa Schafer (women 35-39), and Geoff Wells (men 35-39).
  • Nickel City Splash Swim Team (NICK) was represented by Mary Colby, in the women's 40-44 division.
  • Fairport Area Swim Team Masters (FAIR) was represented by Brendan Danner (men 35-39).
  • There were two unattached swimmers from Niagara: Zack Wahl (men 25-29) and Michael McNelis (men 40-44).

Geoff Wells was top ten in all five of his races, including two gold medals (200 breast and 200 IM) and two silvers (50 back and 50 breast). He broke the Championship Meet Record in the 200 breast, the Niagara record in the 50 back, as well as his own Niagara records in the 50 and 200 breast. Randy Mayall finished in the top ten in all five of his races, including a bronze medal in the 800 meter free. Additionally, Randy broke the Niagara LMSC record in all five events! Zack Wahl took silver in the 100 fly for his age group, top ten in his other two races (50 fly and 100 free), and broke the Niagara records in all three! Melissa recorded top ten finishes in all four of her races, highlighted by a silver medal in the 200 meter free. Mary Colby had two top ten finishes (5th in the 100 back and 6th in the 200 back). Michael McNelis placed in the top ten for three of his races (50/100 breast and 200 fly), highlighted with a 7th place finish in the 200 fly that broke his own Niagara record. Brendan Danner placed 10th in both of his races: 50 and 100 breast.
