This award was instituted in 2015 to recognize special contributors to Niagara masters swimming. This can be over a short term or long term.

Previous Recipients:

2023 - Anna Jordan - She coordinated and provided the region with multiple fitness/swimming webinars throughout the year. We also want to recognize her efforts for going above and beyond in creating our brand new logo and website that will be launching this year. The countless hours it takes to design and implement these types of products has not gone unnoticed and will help pave the way to attract new members for our region.

2019 - Leo Gibbons - In recognition for providing stable and reliable officiating leadership, Leo was on deck for almost every sanctioned event since taking over as Officials Chair and always ensured our events were run with integrity and fairness in accordance with USMS rules and regulations.

2018 - David Werner and Steve Kristek - In recognition of their efforts organizing and running the 27th NYS Championship Meet at Binghamton University. This was the first time Niagara hosted a three day meet in over 20 years.

2017 - Sharlene Ransford - Volunteered as an official at numerous masters events over the years.

2016 - Wendy Ryan - Hamburg and Buffalo area coach/swimmer for over two decades. Has shared her knowledge with every level of swimmer. Continues to motivate swimmers to practice and compete.

2015 - Mike Cahill - Annually hosted at least one meet in Rochester at RIT from 2006 - 2015. Provided hundreds of masters swimmers with competitive opportunities in Niagara. 

 

About Niagara LMSC

The Niagara Local Masters Swim Committee (LMSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to a healthy swimming lifestyle for adult swimmers, within the Western NY region. The Niagara LMSC is the local governing body of U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS).

There are over 600 registered Masters Swimmers in Niagara and over 60,000 in USMS. Anyone 18 years of age or older is eligible to join. No prior competitive swimming experience is necessary.
