The 14th FINA World Masters Championships in Riccione, Italy concluded on June 16th. There were 8,000+ swimmers in attendance. I am not aware of any Niagara members who participated, but you may be curious about the results:

The 15th FINA World Masters Championships will be held in Montreal, Quebec from July 27th to August 10th, 2014. Complete information is not yet available, but the event has been added to the calendar. Go to their event website and you can sign up for newsletter notifications when more info comes out. Montreal is around a 4-6 hour drive from most parts of Niagara.

USMS Summer Nationals is right around the corner (July 5-8). Niagara has just two swimmers making the trip to Omaha, Nebraska. Randy Mayall (100 Free, 400 Free, 200 IM) and Dorothy Tourtual (1500 Free, 400 IM, 200 Back, 400 Free) are registered for the meet. There are 1,257 swimmers entered in the meet. Nationals results are linked in the Results section. Niagara placed 14th out of the Regional Clubs competing at the meet. There were over 20 Niagara LMSC records broken at the meet! Congratulations to all competitors and record setters.

The short course yards season for USMS Top Ten officially concludes on May 31st. The Records have been updated and should all be current. Please contact the Records chair to note any corrections. Records and times achieved at the Skaneateles meet in June will appear the following season.

Our next announcement is that George McVey has stepped down as Officials chair. George has volunteered for well over 20 years as an Officials chair and as a Registrar (prior to John Pilger). The Board thanks George on behalf of all Niagara members and we wish him the best.

Ithaca LCM Meet PDF Print E-mail

Ithaca will be hosting their first LCM meet this summer on Saturday, July 14th. As many of you know, they are a long-time host of a short course yards event in December. This facility was completed just last summer and those that attended the December meet will attest to its quality. This is a rare opportunity for a LCM meet in Niagara, so we hope you will come out to join the fun! Head on over to the calendar for more details, or click this link: Ithaca LCM meet info page.

For anyone needing accommodations, I would recommend checking out the Cornell University Travel Portal. The links on the left menu detail the hotels as well as bed & breakfasts in the Ithaca area.

You can make a weekend out of the visit as Ithaca rests at the bottom tip of Cayuga Lake. The Cayuga Wine Trail has over a dozen wineries as well as other attractions along the way!
