Ann Marie started swimming competitively at age 9. She swam year-round with the Cheektowaga Stingrays Swim Club in the Buffalo area. She swam for Maryvale High School and went on to swim at the University at Buffalo. At UB, she set school records in the 200 IM, 400 IM, 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 fly, 200 back and 1000 free and was awarded team MVP three times.  She was a 13-time NCAA Division II All-American and named UB Female Athlete of the Year her senior year. She spent her junior year abroad in Grenoble, France where she swam with a club team in her spare time. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Spanish in 1994 and her Master’s Degree in Foreign Language Education in 2000. She was inducted into the Maryvale High School Hall of Fame in 2000 and the UB Hall of Fame in 2001. 

After college, she started her teaching career at Letchworth Central School where she spent 10 years as a French and Spanish teacher and swim coach for the Varsity and Junior High Swim Teams and Letchworth Splash Swim Club. She was voted LCAA Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2002 and led her varsity team to a Sectional V Class C title in 2001. 

Ann Marie currently teaches French and Spanish at Victor Junior High (since 2005). She also coaches the Victor Girls Modified Swim Team. Ann Marie started swimming competitively again in 2008 with the RAMS (Rochester Area Masters Swimming). She currently holds over two dozen Niagara District Masters Records. She also has had 13 Top Ten National Rankings including an All-American Achievement in the 400 IM SCM in 2010.

About Niagara LMSC

The Niagara Local Masters Swim Committee (LMSC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to a healthy swimming lifestyle for adult swimmers, within the Western NY region. The Niagara LMSC is the local governing body of U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS).

There are over 600 registered Masters Swimmers in Niagara and over 60,000 in USMS. Anyone 18 years of age or older is eligible to join. No prior competitive swimming experience is necessary.
